February 23, 2017 is Digital Learning Day! Digital learning encompasses many different facets, tools, and applications to support and empower teachers and students, including online courses, blended or hybrid learning, or digital content and resources.
Check out one way to celebrate Digital Learning Day, Distance Learning!
Discover Distance Learning
Distance Learning is a way classes can connect with museums, zoos, aquariums and science centers over the Internet, without ever leaving the classroom. Millions of student have connected with various providers around the world. Your student could be virtually learning about marine mammals at the Alaska SeaLife Center or discover rainforest animals' adaptations for eating here at the California Academy of Sciences.
But how do you find the right program for your class?
Simple, the Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration (CILC) has an extensive list of programs searchable by subject or price level.
For Digital Learning Week, February 20-24th, many of the Distance Learning providers have discounted their programs as an introductory rate, up to 50% off. This is a great way to #DiscoverDL.
Why celebrate Digital Learning Day?
With so many new types of digital devices, educational software and mobile apps being developed, it’s hard to keep up with the latest and greatest advancements in educational technology. In some classrooms and out-of-school programs across the country, educators are doing some pretty amazing things with technology. Yet, these pockets of innovation are confined to a small number of schools and communities. Digital Learning Day was started as a way to actively spread innovative practices and ensure that all youth have access to high-quality digital learning opportunities no matter where they live.
