Joe Russack

At the Academy, I oversee all computing activities within the research group. While this role primarily supports collections data and genomics research, it also encompasses many other aspects of the scientific work we do.

I joined the Academy in 2014 after 20 years of working as a coder and project manager. I initially worked on a taxonomy nomenclature project, but the role expanded to include direct assistance with other research projects, genomics servers and software, as well as collections data systems. In 2021 we formalized a position to oversee all computational work at IBSS, which includes administrative, budgeting, information security, volunteer projects, and other responsibilities.
